About Us

When founder Chantal McKinney, who is a lifelong seeker of the Divine, set out to publish her first book, she had no idea how challenging it would be to break into the traditional publishing industry while staying true to her own spiritual wisdom and life experience. Her book was too spiritual for Christian publishing houses and too Christian for spiritual publishing houses. After studying the trends of millions of people in the United States increasingly calling themselves “spiritual but not religious”, she was surprised to see no easy path forward to enable a book like hers to reach its intended readers. Rather than simply publish her own book, she started Contemporary Mystics Publishing, a boutique hybrid publishing house, to ensure that expansive books about God have a better chance of reaching the spiritually curious, seekers, and anyone seeking God/Goddess outside of well-worn paths.
